Biography Céli Lee is a British artist working across fields of drawing, painting, writing, film and music. Céli created her first artwork in 1990, and has been drawing ever since. In the early 2000s, she dedicated herself to create her own alternative natural history with a series of drawings and artworks which also included art installations and commissions for book covers like the Mondadori edition of Ossi Di Seppia by Eugenio Montale and album covers for record labels such as Tzadik. In 2010, Céli started to experiment with 3D and film to explore further the possibility of narrative. Her first film Dream Odyssey was released in 2012 and was featured in magazines such as Vice. In 2013, Céli's short film Epoch 4 premiered at London Fashion Week. Between 2013 and 2023, Céli dedicated herself to developing various series of drawings. She created several one-of-a-kind handmade artbooks, also limited edition artbook releases, At the Mountains of Madness in 2016, A Journal of Transform in 2018, and Chosen Lords in 2023 to name a few. Between 2014 and 2018, Céli created The Not So Still Moment, a series of earthenware stoneware clay sculptures, and light sculptures. From her photography work, Céli created a one-of-a-kind photobook (echo) in 2022, and the photobook Sakura was published in 2017. Since 2024, Céli has been working on her first Graphic Novel Johann’s Journey. In 2026, the first volume, The Wrong Move was serialised by Last Space Remaining on Patreon. Besides visual arts, Céli’s artistic endeavors also include music. In 2015, Céli formed the band MU with Sergio Calderón. Over the following three years, they explored different genres and recording techniques and released four instrumental albums. They did two tours in Japan and shows in Europe, London, and China in 2016 and 2017. They also made the soundtracks for some of their films and installations, of which were performed as live shows. MU hasn't been active since 2018 but the duo continued to record together as Sergio Calderón & Céli Lee and released their first album The Eternal Dice in June 2020, followed by EP Iron String in April 2021, and their latest EP The Beginnings (Part 1.) was released in December 2022. In 2015, Céli established ENTERTAINING VIOLENCE with the artist Sergio Calderón, a laboratory where they release their projects. In 2026, Céli Lee launched Last Space Remaining with the artist Sergio Calderón, a place beyond time and space for adventure, ideas, and original stories told in writing, drawing, video and audio. |
